FREE CONCERT FOR SONOMA COUNTY YOUTH SPONSORED BY BAY AREA PHILANTHROPIST

San Francisco, CA - The renowned Russian National Orchestra (RNO) will make its Sonoma County debut in a community concert sponsored by Bay Area philanthropist Mouli Cohen. Mr. Cohen's major grant fully underwrites the July 28 performance for which free tickets have been distributed to youth and family-serving organizations throughout the county. More than 1,400 will attend the 1:00 p.m. matinee at Santa Rosa's Luther Burbank Center. Conducted by Carlo Ponti, Jr., the RNO will perform Prokofiev's beloved Peter and the Wolf and a new musical story called Wolf Tracks by Jean-Pascal Beintus. Maestro Ponti and the musicians will meet with the audience at a festive post-concert reception.

Cohen is a long-time supporter of children's charities, including Camp Okizu for young California cancer patients; the international Seva Foundation and its programs to prevent and treat juvenile blindness in third world countries; and the RNO's Magic of Music, which brings art, dance and music activities into Russian orphanages and hospitals. He is also serving with Peggy and Fred Furth, and Barbara Banke and Jess Jackson, as an Event Chair of the 2004 Imagine Auction that hopes to raise $1 million for the Magic of Music, Sonoma Academy and Sonoma County Children's Charities. The gala will take place at Chalk Hill Estate Vineyards & Winery on July 31 and will include a rare private concert of the RNO.

Said Cohen, "This whole project is a wonderful match to my philosophy of giving. We are reaching across borders and boundaries to bring resources and people together, all on behalf of children who need our help." In addition to his substantial commitments to the organizations cited above, Cohen provides major support to a variety of educational programs focused on the arts and social sciences. Sponsored by Grove Street Winery, the tour includes appearances in San Luis Obispo and Napa, and at the Lake Tahoe Music Festival, Ironstone Vineyards, Berkeley's Zellerbach Hall and Villa Montalvo in Saratoga.
